TAVI treatment has reached 500 cases!

Our hospital started transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in March 2017, and we have now completed 3 cases.
TAVI is a catheter treatment for severe or more severe aortic valve stenosis that uses a catheter (thin tube) to insert an artificial valve (biological valve) from a blood vessel at the base of the thigh without opening the chest or stopping the heart. This is a surgery in which the organ is transported to the patient's heart and placed in place.Compared to open heart surgery, this treatment is less stressful for the patient.

Our heart team works closely with many specialists, including cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons, to provide safe treatment by demonstrating their specialized skills.

TAVI (aortic valve implantation) is now possible for dialysis patients

The incidence of aortic stenosis increases with age.Additionally, dialysis patients are relatively susceptible to arteriosclerosis, and a certain number of them suffer from aortic valve stenosis.Previously, only aortic valve replacement surgery was performed through thoracotomy, but with this expansion of indications, less invasive catheter-based treatment has been added as a treatment option for dialysis patients.
However, TAVI is not possible for all patients, and open heart surgery is also an important treatment option.
At our hospital, we will consult with our heart team and propose the most appropriate treatment for the patient.
We will continue to strive to improve quality in order to provide better medical care for each and every patient.
