Initiatives of the Cancer Genomics Department
Our department isThis is a specialized outpatient clinic for people and their families who have concerns about "cancer and genetics."
We will ask about your family's cancer history (family history) and lifestyle habits, and then search for genetic factors related to cancer from a professional perspective. We will then provide expert advice and support regarding measures for prevention and early detection, as well as the need for and how to proceed with genetic testing.
Hereditary tumor specialists, clinical geneticists, and certified genetic counselors (counselors with specialized knowledge of genetics) work together to provide consultation.
We do more than just provide information about hereditary tumor testing and diagnosis. We explain the benefits and points to be aware of regarding testing, as well as the psychological burden and impact on family and social life, and support patients so that they can make informed decisions about treatment and testing.
Target person
・People with a high incidence of certain cancers in their family (blood relatives)
- People who developed cancer at a relatively young age
- People who have experienced multiple cancers and their relatives
・People who want to consider undergoing genetic testing to examine their own genes
・Family members of patients who have been tested at our hospital and wish to be tested again
