This index is the ratio of the number of surgeries in which prophylactic antibiotics (*1) were administered within one hour before the start of surgery among specific surgical procedures.The purpose of prophylactic antibiotics is to prevent surgical site infections.Surgical site infection is defined as an infection that develops within 30 days after surgery (within 1 year depending on the surgical procedure) at the surgical wound (*XNUMX) or at the surgical site or organ.

*XNUMX Antibacterial drugs: Medicines used to treat infections caused by bacterial infections.Antibiotics work by inhibiting the growth of bacteria or killing bacteria.
