The occurrence of pressure ulcers (*) is an important criterion for evaluating the quality of medical care.The occurrence and aggravation of pressure ulcers hinder the patient's comfort, reduce the quality of life, and cause complications such as infection.Therefore, it is necessary to strive for prevention and early detection of outbreaks.
*Pressure ulcers are also commonly referred to as “bedsores”.It is a wound caused by pressure, and the place where the bone protrudes is pressed by the weight of being bedridden, etc., and the blood flow becomes poor, and the skin becomes reddish and an ulcer-like wound is formed. .
Features of our hospital
Our hospital accepts critically ill patients as a critical care center that boasts one of the largest number of emergency transports accepted in Ibaraki Prefecture.Inevitably, many medical devices will be used during treatment.The incidence of pressure ulcers at our hospital tends to be slightly higher than that of other participating facilities. It is characterized by the frequent occurrence of small pressure ulcers that are caused by contact between the body and the many essential medical devices.

Number of patients with new in-hospital pressure ulcers with molecule d2 (damage to the dermis) or higher
Denominator Total number of hospitalized patients excluding patients admitted and discharged on the same day, patients with pressure ulcers, and patients with new pressure ulcers in the hospital before the survey month
