Criteria for acceptance of those who have difficulty speaking Japanese at our health checkup center

In order to ensure the safety of examinations for examinees, the Health Examination Center has established the following standards for accepting patients who have difficulty in conducting examinations in Japanese.
Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

■Those who live in Japan and are able to communicate in Japanese are eligible for the examination. (regardless of nationality)

■For those who live in Japan but do not understand Japanese
 →One interpreter is required to accompany one patient.
 Any language is acceptable as long as you can interpret between Japanese and a foreign language.
 → Female examinees are required to have a female interpreter.
  *A female interpreter is always required for breast and cervical cancer screenings.
  *For breast cancer screening and cervical cancer screening, both the examinee and the female interpreter are required to be present in the examination room.   
  The only requirement is that you agree with each other.A male (including spouse) interpreter cannot be present.
 →In the case of a male interpreter, the consultation will be on the 3F common floor.
 → An interpreter cannot be seen at the same time.

■If you are accompanied by an interpreter, you will be examined at the time designated by our Health Checkup Center.

■Stomach barium examination, brain MRI/brain MRA examination, and exercise stress electrocardiogram examination (treadmill) will be conducted only in Japanese, giving top priority to the safety of the examinee.If the patient cannot communicate in Japanese, the appointment will be cancelled.
*Courses that include brain MRI and brain MRA examinations are brain checkups, one-day special checkups, and comfortable accommodation checkups.
*Courses that include exercise stress electrocardiography (treadmill) are cardio/vascular checkups and one-day special checkups.

■For gastroscopy, an interpreter will be present from pretreatment to the end of the examination.

If you do not agree with the above criteria, you will not be able to undergo the examination.

Acceptance Criteria at Total Health Evaluation Center Tsukuba
for Residents with Language Barriers

In order to ensure safe examinations for an examinee with language barriers, the following criteria has been set.
We would like to ask for your understanding and cooperation.

■Checkups are available for those who have residence in Japan and are able to communicate in Japanese,regardless of nationality.

■For those who live in Japan but do not understand or speak the language:
 →One interpreter is required to accompany each examinee.
  The interpreter must be able to translate between Japanese and the examinee's spoken language.
 →A female interpreter is required for a female examinee.
  *For breast cancer/cervical cancer examinations, a female interpreter must accompany the examinee.
  *The examinee must agree to have the interpreter present in the examination room during
   the breast cancer screening and the gynecological examination.
   A male interpreter, including the examinee's partner, is not allowed.
 →If a male interpreter accompanies, examinations will be held in the common use area on the third floor.
 →The interpreter cannot have checkups concurrently with the examinee

■The examinee who is accompanied by an interpreter must come to our center at the specified time.

■The upper gastrointestinal X-ray, brain MRI and MRA, and the treadmill test will only be carried out in Japanese, due to the examinee's safety. If the examinee themselves cannot speak or understand Japanese, this examination will be cancelled.
 *Brain MRI and MRA are included in the brain checkup, one-day special checkup, and Yuttari checkup.
 *The treadmill test is included in the cardiovascular checkup and the one-day special checkup.

■During the gastroendoscopy examination, the interpreter must accompany the examinee from the preparation process to the end of the examination.

Those who do not consent to the above criteria will not be able to receive medical checkups at our center.
