This is an initiative to create a place to belong, aiming to create an environment that relieves the tension caused by hospitalization and outpatient visits.The lounge, waiting area, family waiting room, etc. have been renovated to provide more space.
◇ICU Family Waiting Room (2022-2025)
The ICU family waiting room is where the families of highly seriously ill patients or those whose condition has suddenly worsened in the ward spend time until treatment is completed. However, sometimes they stay there for as long as eight hours, and our hospital's ICU is located in a building that has been there since the hospital first opened, so in addition to aging, it is "narrow and oppressive," and improving the environment has been a long-standing issue. Therefore, we used part of the remaining funds from the crowdfunding campaign we conducted to renovate the "palliative care ward family waiting room" to renovate the ICU family waiting room.
Understanding the characteristics of an ICU (intensive care unit), we proceeded with creating a space that took into consideration the feelings of the family, using a color scheme that was not visually striking and designing two open rooms without doors, renovating the space to be simple yet soothing for both body and mind.

The needs and length of stays of people using hospital family waiting rooms vary greatly. That's why, with privacy as the top priority, two spaces were designed: an "open waiting area" and a "secluded, enclosed private room." Rather than focusing on visual appeal or novelty, the design carefully considered things like colors that blend in with the surrounding environment and appropriate curves of the walls, creating a simple, understated, and warm space that doesn't amplify anxiety or unnecessarily stir emotions. This design skill is highly commendable. This renovation design for the family waiting room in the palliative care ward was undertaken with the participation of many sectors, centered around medical staff. A crowdfunding campaign was conducted, and various handmade rewards were prepared. The small, bleak room with no windows was transformed into a comforting space.
◇ Palliative care ward family waiting room (2018-2022)
The "family waiting room" where family members can rest is small and windowless, making it seem as if the family is confined in an impersonal space. With the desire to turn this waiting room into a place where mentally and physically tense family members can calmly rest and where patients and their families can spend time together in a private space, which will lead to better care for both the family and the patient, we have attempted our first crowdfunding renovation to create an easy-to-use space with an artistic design, in our corporation's first attempt at renovation.

The renovation design of the family waiting room in the palliative care ward was undertaken with the participation of many sectors, with the medical staff at the core. Crowdfunding was carried out, and various thank-you gifts were prepared by hand. The small, windowless, and bleak room was transformed into a relaxing space.
◇ Sky Light (2016)
The nuclear medicine examination waiting room had no windows and was oppressive and dark.
We designed a round lighting fixture that uses indirect light and renovated it with the aim of creating a soft and warm waiting area.
Green and blue color acrylics are inlaid, so that the outside light such as the sky, Komorebi, and outer space can be associated.

◇ Tsutsumare Salon (2014)
We refurbished the family waiting room, which was infrequently used, and created a multi-purpose space where you can relax in a soft atmosphere with curved walls and wooden benches.
The creation of a new place to live through surveys and workshops was highly evaluated, and was selected by the governor in the social design field of the Ibaraki Design Selection.

With the participation of many different people, a space that was previously separated by heavy sliding doors was transformed into a multi-purpose space with large curved surfaces that is full of life. The occupancy rate has increased dramatically as a place for hospitalized patients to get their hair cut and communicate.
◇ Komorebi Curtain (2014)
The window of the lounge that was like a wall blocked by white curtains.The view from the window is also not good.Therefore, we created a curtain with a Komorebi-like pattern that allows the light to pass through but not much of the outside scenery to enter, allowing the soft light in.
The curtains are flocked and feature a texture that looks like it was drawn with a crayon and a soft texture.

◇Multi-purpose room (2009)
The multi-purpose room, which is used for language and hearing training, is a space that retains the atmosphere of the previous pediatric ward.Therefore, we renovated it into a calm rehabilitation space for adults.
