We won the Ibaraki Design Selection Series Award!
[Winner of the 2024 Social Design Category Series Selection!]
From a total of 2024 applications (the highest number ever) for the "Ibaraki Design Selection 144",
Our hospital's Patient and Family Counseling Support Center has won the 2024 Social Design Series Selection!
Renovated into a place where you can feel the warmth of wood and feel comfortable asking questions!
Although the Patient Family Consultation Support Center is located near the hospital entrance where many patients come and go, before the renovation it was a cluttered, impersonal space with only a counter and office supplies. The staff on-site also had issues such as "We want to create a warm space where users can easily talk to us and even have a quick interview." With the cooperation of NPO Cheer Art, which is developing art and design activities at our organization, we had many discussions with the staff and renovated it into a warm space using cypress wood from Ibaraki Prefecture. The newly established interview corner has a cypress wood pamphlet rack that serves as a partition, and is designed to respect the privacy of those seeking consultation. In addition, the design of this space gives it continuity with the outpatient entrance (※), which was renovated in 2018 using cypress wood, which also led to the series selection award.

Evaluation points *From the Ibaraki Design Selection 2024 selection catalogue
The fact that the design makes it easy for anyone to drop in and that an increasing number of hospital staff are using it as a place to share information shows that this project has steadily continued to create a relaxing space while taking into consideration the diverse relationships within the hospital.
